TALLAGHT ROCKERS NOT STANDING STILL Press Review
Tallaght Rockers not standing STILL
Emer Mulvaney (The Echo) 23-11-06
THERE are three definitions of a Stillroom 'A room for distilling, ''An apartment in a house where liquors, preserves and the like are kept' and 'The hardest working rock and roll band in Ireland.' The last one didn't come from any dictionary. Formed in 2004 in Tallaght, Rock band STILLROOM saw five friends come together to achieve one ultimate goal- to make it and the lads, three of which are childhood friends from Knockmore, have the CV to prove they are doing a damn good job of realising their dreams. Fresh from a successful trip to Los Angeles band members James Berkeley, Paul Scott, Dave Ebbs, Dehna Bennett and David Grehan came back on a high to Dublin to take both The Hub and Fibber Magee's by storm earlier this month and this weekend they'll be Rockin' up the Voodoo Lounge as part of the Emergenza Festival. Band member James told The Echo: "Things are going great for us at the moment and LA was a fantastic Experience. "Both gigs in town this month went down brilliant too and we are really looking forward to this weekend where we hope we'll have an equally great turn out to come and support us."
On their Website the band proudly state that in a modern day scenario where blood sweat and tear performances are few and far between from bands in a live setting, STILLROOM will genuinely recapture the spirit, chemistry and energy of their predecessors. They include among their influences Guns n' Roses, AC/DC, Bon Jovi, Thin Lizzy and Queen among others. They say the band’s stage presence is highly evidential from the audience participation and the commitment to bringing the full entertainment package. Unusually, and quite impressively, the band never do cover versions as a rule so if you're ready to Rock prepare to do it some original tunes, Tallaght-style! |
